During the 1900-01 season a HRDCA team had the opportunity of playing on the Sydney Cricket Ground against a Sydney first grade club side.

This arose as a result of the NSWCA abandoning Country Week for the season and introducing a scheme whereby four country centres - Maitland, Bathurst. Newcastle and Goulburn - were invited to play sides having the bye in the Sydney first grade competition.

The HRDCA was drawn to play The Glebe in a match extending over two Saturdays. The local team selected was: L Moore, R Norman, A Giles, N Peek, J Kerrigan, W Ross, A Cunningham, M Bourke. R Moore, H Dimmock and R O'Halloran. The team was not as strong as the usual line-up. Prominent local opening batsman, Harry Harden, was unavailable and Bob Lindsay and Edgar Waddy were playing for Central Cumberland in the Sydney competition. The Glebe had a convincing win - 3 for 241 to the locals' 14(j ( L Moore 40, A Cunningham 32) .
